TRE for Birth

I want to support Birth & Recovery

Most women experience some form of shaking or tremors during or after birth. Generally misunderstood as a sign of shock & trauma, the inhibition of this natural relaxation response may inadvertently contribute towards failure to progress and post-natal depression.

Commonly referred to as ‘post-partum shivers,’ TRE provides a trauma-informed model of these spontaneous movements & outlines their role & purpose in supporting natural delivery and post-birth recovery.

With spontaneous shaking & tremors deliberately used by Traditional Swahili Midwives for countless generations to help support post-birth recovery, TRE not only prepares women to surrender to spontaneous movements during & after birth, but also provides a practical self-care tool to support their mental health & physical wellbeing on the rest of their parenting journey. Easily used in as little as 5-10 minutes simply lying on the floor or even in bed, TRE also provides a body-based self-care technique to support the wellbeing & performance of Birth Professionals.

Supporting the Journey of Birthing

TRE can be used to support mental health & physical wellbeing throughout the entire journey of birth.

Supporting Conception

By providing a practical tool to reduce stress & anxiety at its core below the level of conscious control, TRE provides a unique yet complimentary approach to consciously directed self-care techniques (such as mindfulness, breath training, visualisation & general exercise) to help optimise mental health, physical wellbeing & hormonal balance prior to conception.

Supporting Pregnancy

By providing a practical self-care technique to release muscular tension, reduce stress & anxiety & improve sleep quality, TRE supports women to optimise their mental health & physical wellbeing during pregnancy. As there are cautions for usingTRE during pregnancy it is recommended all pregnant women be professionally guided by a suitably qualified TRE Provider.

Supporting Birth

By providing a practical experience of the positive effects of spontaneous movements in relaxing the mind, releasing the body & reducing pain prior to birth in a safe & controlled environment, TRE prepares birthing women to surrender into & be supported by the innate wisdom of their body & its spontaneous involuntary movements during labor & delivery.

Support Birth Recovery

By normalizing post-partum tremors as a natural recovery response & empowering women to deliberately access them in a safe & self-regulated way, TRE provides a practical self-care technique to release the trauma of birth & rebalance the nervous system on an ongoing & regular basis to support the relaxation required for optimal bonding & breast-feeding.

Supporting Birth Professionals

Learning TRE not only provides a practical self-care technique for Birth Professionals but also offers an embodied framework to understand & support the role of spontaneous involuntary movements during labor & recovery.

Supporting New Parents

While birth is obviously the primary focus of the pregnancy journey, the growth & development required of new parents or the accommodation of an additional child into an existing family unit can be an extremely stressful time.

By providing a simple, fast & effective self-care technique to release stress & shift the neurophysiology of the body towards more relaxed & relational states, TRE supports the ongoing growth & development of parents as well as the health & wellbeing of relationships & the family unit as a whole.

Providing Training to your Birth Professionals

If you are interested in providing TRE as a self-care technique for your staff you can direct them to the self-guided online learning course or contact Physiotherapist & National TRE Coordinator Richmond Heath on 0409 357 964 or email treaustralia@hotmail.com to tailor a program specific to your organization.
